Welcome to Highland Jr/Sr High School

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Highland High School, I am pleased to welcome you to the HHS website.  This valuable tool is an excellent way for you to keep up to date on your child’s education and school activities.  We are excited to have an opportunity to share information about our school with you.

Highland High School serves students in grades 7-12 and has a student population of approximately 460 students.  HHS has a long history of excellence in academics as well as extracurricular activities.

In order to provide the best educational experience for your child, it is vital that the school and the parents work in unison to achieve this end.  Providing encouragement and support for the student to work toward his/her full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

In order to achieve these things, I have included several ways family members of our school community can work together with HHS staff:

  • Provide high expectations for attendance and being to school and classes on time.
  • Encourage/Reinforce that your child give their best in all that they do.
  • Encourage your child to be an active participant in school activities outside of the classroom. (athletics/academic teams, extracurricular offerings, clubs, organizations, etc.)
  • Communicate & support your child’s teacher (via email, telephone, conferences, etc.)
  • Encourage your child to take advantage of after school tutoring (3:30-4:30 with scheduled teachers)
  • Attend school-wide events and Parent Teacher Conferences.
  • Celebrate your child’s successes, as there will be many opportunities to do so.

HHS appreciates the sustained support provided by our parents, community members, and local businesses.  We pledge to continue to work hard to make our academic and extracurricular programs even stronger to ensure our students are successful and prepared for the future.

We hope you enjoy learning more about the ways you can help us achieve our goal.  If you have comments or recommendations, you may contact me at akoch@lewis.k12.mo.us
