Dear Highland Families,                                                       March 19, 2020

The Lewis County C-1 School District faculty and administration have been working to provide students and parents with some learning and educational resources to use at home during the COVID-19 school closure.  Please use the following link: Lewis County C-1 Educational Resource Hub. to access a document that the district is providing to families to help promote a continuation of education while students are at home during the school closures caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

This document contains additional links to a document for each building; HES and HSS.  The Highland Elementary link will provide students and parents with grade level specific learning ideas and resources.  The Highland high school link will provide students and parents with specific subject-related resources for all departments at HHS.

We hope that parents and students will find these learning opportunities to be fun and helpful in providing some continued learning experiences during the extended school closure. As I have mentioned in past communication, this is a rapidly changing environment with new developments at every turn.

The Lewis County C-1 administration, faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the best services possible to the children of our community during these unprecedented times. We will continue to add to or modify this document to assist with at-home learning suggestions. In the coming weeks, we will also be working on plans to address the possibility of continued extensions of school closure and how best to educate our children under such circumstances. For now, we are hopeful that this will not be a long term school closure situation; however, if that should be the case, we want to be ready with a plan.

Finally, I just want to say thank you to my ROCKSTARS at Highland! Our teachers, administrators, and staff have, in a period of approximately 24-48 hours, revamped curriculum plans and learning opportunities to provide for continued educational opportunities for our students in a completely unexpected health crisis. No complaining, just rolling up their sleeves and doing what is in the best interest of our children. I could not be more proud of my colleagues and in awe of the Cougar Pride being displayed at Highland!

Sincerely,

John French
