Soar students have been working on a unit called NASA's BEST Engineering. This week they are continuing the challenge of making a model of a lunar rover which will have to travel a certain distance and keep an astronaut safe.

Congratulations to the 2023 Highland Lady Cougar Varsity Softball Team for receiving Academic All-State recognition with a cumulative Team GPA of 3.86, and to our players who earned individual recognition with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher. Great job ladies!


The Highland Varsity Cheer Squad attended the Ursuline Academy Cheer and Dance Showcase this weekend! Great performance girls, we are so proud of you!

Optional Baseball Preseason Hitting/Throwing Open Field Schedule (2/12/24-2/16/24): Mon (2/12), Tues. (2/13), and Thurs (2/15) after school until 4:30. We will meet at the football field. There will be no morning hitting since we are going outside after school.

7th Grade Geography students going old school this morning creating shoebox dioramas of Caribbean Region. Sometimes, you just need a little arts and crafts in your life!



Highland FBLA attended the District 3 Leadership Conference at Truman State University on February 7. Members placed in the top 5 in 18 different events with many of them advancing to state in April.


The Highland boys travel to Kahoka and defeat the Indians 43-40!! Great effort boys!! GO COUGARS!!
At the half Highland leads Clark Co 20-19 in CCC basketball action!!
Final from Kahoka the Lady Cougars defeat the Lady Indians 54-38!! GO COUGARS!!

The WEST BOUND 4:30 shuttle bus has been slightly delayed due to unforseen circumstances. This route will run as planned but will be approximately 20-25 minutes behind the normal schedule.
Jr high track team sign up is posted outside the health room. Please have a current physical and insurance on file in the high school office before our first practice Monday February 26th after school.
The following students got their artwork accepted into the 50th Annual High School Art Competition at the Quincy Art Center:

Trevor received an honorable mention award for his piece “Barren”. He was also awarded a summer camp scholarship to Illinois State University.
Macy Hamlin received an HLGU scholarship worth $3,000 for her piece “Koi Vase”
This show was very competitive. Out of 242 entries only 99 were selected for the show. It is on display at the Quincy Art Center until March 2nd. So proud of our artists representing Highland High School at this art show!









Jr. high quiz bowl students had a great day at Knox Co. Tournament of the Minds. Congratulations to Evan Frieden for making All-Tournament Team.
