Our 7th grade science students recently traveled to the beautiful Prairie Fork Conservation Area for a hands-on learning experience in Missouri’s great outdoors! Students rotated through a variety of outdoor classrooms where conservation professionals taught them about Missouri forestry, aquatic ecosystems, and wildlife management.
The day provided students with the opportunity to connect classroom learning to real-world science while exploring nature firsthand. The trip wrapped up with a quick hotdog roast for lunch before students headed back to school after a fun and educational day outdoors!
Thank you to our bus drivers for getting our student and staff safely there and back!
Huge thank you to the Prairie Fork Conservation Area, Missouri Department of Conservation, and Quail Forever staff for providing an amazing experience!

Congratulations to Briscoe Post for setting a new school record in javelin! Briscoe threw a 47.86m throw!

The baseball game scheduled for Monday 5/11 versus Canton will be varsity only. NO JV game will be played. Varsity will start at 5pm! GO COUGARS!!
Due to wet and chilly conditions, PTO Movie Night on the Field has been cancelled. PTO will reschedule this event and will share updates soon!
Mrs. Johnson’s First Grade has had a busy and exciting last few weeks! We’ve had special visits from Bank of Monticello to teach us about spending and saving money, our Resource Officer, Jason Slater, who talked with us about his role at our school and the important ways police officers help and protect our community, and Jason Vaughn from the Missouri Department of Conservation, who gave a fun and informative presentation about snakes in Missouri.
We also enjoyed a wonderful field trip to Legacy Martial Arts Studio and the Quincy Fire Department, with lunch at the park in between. It was a fun-filled day full of learning and great experiences for our first graders!
We truly appreciate all of our presenters for taking time out of their busy schedules to come teach and interact with our first graders. We are finishing the year strong while still making learning fun!

The LCC1 Board will conduct a special meeting tomorrow night (5/6/26) to address a change order for the FEMA building construction project and to discuss some personnel matters. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm with only the FEMA change order item in open and then move into closed for personnel matters. The full agenda can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/4tAYXHP

Our 7th grade scientists got creative last week while bringing atomic structure to life!
Students used cereal to build models of atoms, representing protons, neutrons, and electrons in a fun (and tasty!) hands-on activity. From colorful designs to carefully constructed models, it was exciting to see their understanding of science concepts come together in such a unique way.
