HIGHLAND HIGH SCHOOL PARENTS
Jostens will be here Thursday, 11/19/20 for our brown attendance day student to pick up class rings and letter jackets. They will be here Friday, 11/20/20 for our gold attendance day students to pick up class rings and letter jackets. Pick up will begin at 9:30 a.m.. Parents if you would like to pick up your students ring or letter jacket please ring the buzzer for entry. We will social distance all parents while waiting and you will be required to wear a mask while in the building.

There will be an Emergency Board Meeting to discuss the closed session items as indicated in the picture of this post. Meeting is tonight @ 5:30pm and LCC1 community can expect an announcement no later than first thing in the morning regarding any changes & next week's plans!
HIGHLAND HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND SENIOR PARENTS
Jostens will be meeting with our senior class on Thursday 11/19/20 for students assigned to brown day and Friday 11/20/20 for students assigned to gold day. The meeting will be 8:30-9:00 a.m. Students will pick up order forms for announcements and other senior memorabilia. If you are not able to attend or you are a virtual student in the first semester you may call the office and arrange a time to pick up your packet. Deliveries of memorabilia will be Dec. 2, 2020 we will announce a time at a later date. You may also order online, that information will be included in the packet.
Due to our current closure we are unable able to formally honor our Veterans through programs and events in the district as we traditionally do. Still LCC-1 wants to send out a heartfelt and special thank you to all those who have served. We are truly grateful for your service.

CPR training videos are being sent out in our high school Health Google Classroom. Please watch daily to keep up with them. CPR is a graduation requirement.
The Marion Co Junior High Tournament will be live streamed due to the limitations on spectators. The live stream will take place on the Marion Co. School YouTube channel “MCR-II Mustangs”!!
Parents/Guardians: Reminder that LCC1 will remain in Distance Learning mode for at least the next week! HEADS UP though: With 87 active known cases in our county, double-digit increases in new cases almost every day last week, & news almost daily of another 1-2 staff members out sick, tested positive, or quarantined due to household positives, we will have to see what this week holds as to whether we can return to school on November 16th or not.
Caedon Brownell finishes his High School Cross Country career with a near personal best 19:17 to finish 107th at the State Championship Race. Way to go Caedon! #CougarPride!
Carlie Davis represents Highland well with a 24:45.5 and finished in 97th place in the Class 2 State Championship race as a Sophomore. #GoCougars!
Correction to a previous post for the FBLA Business Battle:
Jayden Dreyer placed 1st in District 3 for Financial Concepts while also placing 3rd in the state level completion.
Last week, several FBLA members competed in the Business Battle competition by completing online tests. They were competing both at the district and state level. Congratulations to our winners!
Business Basics: District 3—1st Place Sterling Lair; 2nd Place Mikayla Dreyer.
Financial Concepts: District 3-1st Place Leah Jennings who also placed 3rd Place at the State Level.
Marketing, Sales & Communications: District 3—1st Place Cheyenne VanMeter; 2nd Place Brianna Corbin. At the State Level, Cheyenne placed 5th and Brianna 6th.

The Highland Junior High Student Council is hosting a 5K Fun Run/Walk in support of Gina Stark and her family on November 28th at 8AM at Wakonda State Park. Registration allows you to participate in the event, and comes with a long sleeved shirt and a commemorative pin to show your support. Registration forms are available from Junior High Student Council Students, Mrs. Wiskirchen, or the High School Office. Registration forms are due by 3:00pm on November 18th.

Information regarding the start of winter sports at Highland:
1. All student participants (players, cheerleaders, managers, etc.) have each been allotted 4 tickets to distribute to friends and family.
2. Anyone wishing to enter the gym must have a ticket and provide payment/pass at the entry gate.
3. Please sit as a family cohort
4. Social Distancing is expected
5. Masks or face coverings are required when social distancing is not possible
6. Wash and sanitize hands often
7. Doors will open 20 minutes prior to the start of the first contest.
8. No student sections will be permitted
9. Games will be Broadcast on the NFHS Network
